Jenna Fischer's Mean Girls Mishap and Office Reunion Updates

Jenna Fischer spilled the beans on a wild experience she had while working on the set of Mean Girls. The Office star dished to PEOPLE about how she tackled most of her scenes for the new movie musical with a major injury in tow. She revealed, "I shot for one day on Mean Girls, and then I didn't have to shoot for a month. And in that month I went on a ski trip and I fell on a sidewalk and I broke my shoulder."

In the musical version of the iconic teen comedy, Fischer took on the role of Cady Heron's (played by Angourie Rice) mom, a part originally played by Ana Gasteyer in the 2004 non-musical version. Fischer had to get creative to hide her injury on camera, saying, "So if you notice in the movie I am exclusively gesturing with my left arm. It was the wildest experience. So a big part of my role in Mean Girls was pretending I didn't have a broken shoulder."

She even spilled the beans on how the production team concealed her injury during filming. Fischer explained that in the opening shot of the movie, she's in the middle of a field with Cady singing, and she's holding a crossbody bag. She revealed, "The reason, she says, is because she had to take her sling off and the bag was 'serving as a sling for me.'"

Despite the time that's passed, Fischer admitted she's still not fully recovered from the accident. She shared, "I'm still in physical therapy for it. I'm still rehabbing it. It's a complicated injury, as anyone who's injured their shoulder will tell you."

Aside from her Mean Girls revelation, Fischer recently got back together with her Office pals Rainn Wilson, Craig Robinson, Kate Flannery, Brian Baumgartner, and Creed Bratton for an AT&T Business Next Level Network commercial. She also revisits the beloved sitcom every week through her rewatch podcast Office Ladies, which she cohosts with her former costar Angela Kinsey.
