Chicago Bears' 2024 NFL Draft: Choosing Between Brock Bowers and Rome Odunze

Written by Published

The Chicago Bears are getting all set for the 2024 NFL draft, and it's a big one for them. They've got not one, but two top 10 picks, which means they could snag a couple of real game-changers.

Now, everyone's pretty certain they're taking quarterback Caleb Williams with the first pick. But the real question mark is what they'll do with the ninth pick. There are a bunch of options on the table.

Insider Tony Pauline reckons that if the Bears decide to go for a pass catcher at No. 9, they'll be choosing between Georgia tight end Brock Bowers and Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze.

Bowers seems to be the hot ticket item, with lots of teams eyeing him up. The Los Angeles Chargers (picking 5th), the Tennessee Titans (picking 7th), the Bears themselves, and the New York Jets (picking 10th) are all interested. But word is, he's probably not slipping past the Jets.

You might think, "Hey, Chicago's got enough tight ends already," what with Cole Kmet and new addition Gerald Everett. But adding Bowers to the mix could actually be pretty sweet, giving their rookie QB another solid target. Plus, the new offensive coordinator, Shane Waldron, likes running three tight end setups.

What's really juicy, though, is the prospect of both Bowers and Odunze still being available at ninth overall. Who would the Bears pick for their young QB? A tight end who's great at catching passes, or a top-tier receiver with serious vertical threat?
