Green Bay Packers Sign Wisconsin Long Snapper Peter Bowden as Undrafted Free Agent

The Green Bay Packers are beefing up their team with local talent, snagging Wisconsin long snapper Peter Bowden as an undrafted free agent post the 2024 NFL draft. Tom Silverstein from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel broke the news, and it looks like Bowden is set for a shot at making the 53-man roster.

Bowden, standing at 6-2 and weighing 237 pounds, has the size and skills to give the Packers' incumbent long snapper Matt Orzech a run for his money. Orzech had a bit of a rollercoaster first season in Green Bay, so the competition should be interesting.

Hailing from San Diego, Bowden made a name for himself as a top long snapping recruit. He showcased his talent in 39 games over three seasons with the Badgers, earning himself a spot as a Patrick Mannelly Award finalist in 2023 and a semifinalist in 2022. This award is like the Heisman for long snappers, recognizing the best in the nation every year.

Bowden was a standout in the eyes of Dane Brugler, who ranked him as the top long snapper in the draft class, the only one to receive a draftable grade. To top it off, Bowden even got in on the action at the Senior Bowl, proving he's got the chops to compete at the next level.
