Ben Shephard Bids Farewell to Good Morning Britain, Embraces New Role on This Morning

Ben Shephard bid a fond farewell to Good Morning Britain, hosting his final edition before embarking on his new adventure co-hosting This Morning with Cat Deeley. Reflecting on his time, Shephard reminisced about the "amazing memories" and the privilege of covering significant events like the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II and the King's Coronation. However, what truly stood out for him were the people - his colleagues and the guests who graced the show.

His last show was a nostalgic ride, sharing the sofa with long-time co-host Kate Garraway, with whom he has shared countless ITV moments over the years. The farewell episode was a star-studded affair, with fellow GMB presenters and well-wishers like Susanna Reid, Charlotte Hawkins, Richard Arnold, Andi Peters, Sean Fletcher, and others joining in to say goodbye. Tributes poured in from Lorraine Kelly, Martin Lewis, Chris Kamara, and viewers at home.

As Shephard moves on to This Morning, taking over from Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, he expressed excitement about the new opportunity. He thanked viewers for their support and noted that while This Morning is a new venture, it's just a wall away from his previous show, emphasizing that he's not going far. Shephard's journey in morning television has been eventful, from occasionally filling in for Schofield to becoming one of the regular hosts on GMB.

Now, alongside Deeley, Shephard will take on the Monday to Thursday slot on This Morning, with Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary continuing on Fridays. It's a new chapter for Shephard, but one that feels like a natural progression in his career. He acknowledged the early starts he'll still endure but looked forward to being surrounded by the incredible team that makes the show.
