Saundra Glenn, a die-hard Coldplay fan from Luton, UK, got the surprise of her life when she found herself hitching a ride to Radio 1’s Big Weekend music festival with none other than Chris Martin himself. You can imagine her disbelief when a sleek black Mercedes pulled up beside her as she was taking a breather due to her osteoarthritis and troublesome hip. But there he was, offering her a lift.
"I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Chris Martin in the car," Saundra recounted to the BBC. "I hesitated, thinking I can't possibly ride with him, but they insisted, and in I went!"
Saundra's original plan was to head back home and catch the concert on TV, but the opportunity to see Coldplay live in her hometown was too good to pass up. As she joked to Martin, "I'm 64, Chris, festivals aren't really my thing. I came just to see you, and now I have, so I could go home happy."
But the kindness of Chris Martin didn't stop with just the ride. He made sure Saundra was taken care of even after they arrived at the festival. "He didn't just drop me off and leave," Saundra shared. "He made sure I got to where I needed to be, arranging for a golf buggy to take me to my destination. It just goes to show what a kind-hearted person he is, being mindful of people with disabilities."
Saundra ended up staying for the entire show, describing it as one of the coolest festivals she's ever been to. It's moments like these that truly make for unforgettable experiences.
