Jude Law has a fascinating career and some interesting reflections on his journey in Hollywood. He recently opened up in an interview with DuJour magazine, sharing one of his regrets: "I didn't feel like I really ever leaned into playing handsome," Law admitted. "I was trying to play against my looks in my early 20s, and now that I'm saggy and balding, I wish I had played it up."
But let's not jump to conclusions about Jude being saggy and balding at 51 – he's still far from that! His career has certainly evolved, and he's had the chance to explore roles that don't rely on his looks. He noted, "It's been satisfying not having to turn that switch on."
Law found mainstream success with the 1999 thriller *The Talented Mr. Ripley*, alongside Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman. This film earned him his first Oscar nomination. Before that, he appeared in *Gattaca* with Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke and played a shooting victim in Clint Eastwood's *Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil*, sharing the screen with John Cusack and Kevin Spacey.
Following these early successes, Law's career continued to soar. He starred in notable films such as *Cold Mountain*, *Closer*, and *The Aviator*, where he portrayed Hollywood womanizer Errol Flynn. In 2004, he took on the title role in *Alfie*, a film about a charming ladies' man.
Looking ahead, Jude Law is set to appear in the movie *Firebrand*, hitting theaters on Friday, June 14. In this film, he takes on the challenging role of King Henry VIII later in life, depicting a bitter, gout-ridden monarch. "He's full of regret, self-medicating with alcohol, and trying to deal with intense pain and the madness that it brings on," Law explained.
