Jack Shephard is setting his sights on Montana!

Lost fans, get ready for a treat because Matthew Fox, the actor who brought Jack Shephard to life, is about to dive into a whole new world. Fox has signed on for a role in the latest spinoff from the Yellowstone universe, titled The Madison. This show is going to be a fresh take on the franchise, bringing the action to present-day Montana.

So who’s Matthew Fox playing? He’ll take on the role of Paul, a rugged, outdoorsy bachelor who’s as self-reliant as they come. Picture this: a man who thrives in the wild, fully embracing the beauty of nature and living life on his own terms. It’s a far cry from his previous roles, and it sounds like a fascinating twist for the talented actor.

Fox is joining an already impressive cast. Michelle Pfeiffer is on board as the series lead, Stacy Clyburn. Pfeiffer, who’s also serving as an executive producer, is taking center stage as the matriarch of the Clyburn family. The show is set against the stunning backdrop of the Madison River Valley in central Montana, and it’s poised to offer a deep, emotional exploration of grief and human connections.

Patrick J. Adams will be playing Russell McIntosh, an investment banker who has meticulously followed the path laid out for him. This character seems to be a study in contrasts to Paul’s free-spirited nature. Adams’ wife on the show, Paige, will be portrayed by Elle Chapman. Paige is described as a somewhat self-indulgent woman who enjoys a luxurious lifestyle supported by her wealthy family and husband.

Then there’s Beau Garrett, who’ll be bringing Abigail Reese to life. Abigail is a “resilient and sardonic New Yorker” who’s recently been through a divorce and is now navigating life as a single mother of two. Her eldest daughter, Bridgette, will be played by Amiah Miller. This character lineup promises plenty of drama and personal growth against the breathtaking scenery of Montana.

Behind the scenes, Taylor Sheridan is once again at the helm as an executive producer, alongside a stellar team including Michelle Pfeiffer, David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Christina Voros, Michael Friedman, and Keith Cox. Sheridan, who has already brought us successful spinoffs like 1883 and 1923, is expanding the Yellowstone Cinematic Universe with this new installment.

Fox, best known for his Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated role as Jack Shephard in Lost, is stepping into this new role with a lot of excitement. He’s also known for his role as Charlie Salinger in Party of Five, and more recently, he starred in the comedy series CAUGHT* and the miniseries Last Light. Not stopping there, Fox’s future projects include the Max drama series The Assassin, based on Tom Wood's book series.

But let’s not forget the other exciting developments in the Yellowstone universe. There were whispers about Matthew McConaughey potentially being involved in a spinoff, and there are still more spinoffs in the pipeline, like 6666 and 1944. And while the flagship series Yellowstone is gearing up for the second half of its fifth and final season on November 10, it’ll be without its lead star, Kevin Costner. Costner announced back in June that he wouldn’t be returning for the final episodes, citing scheduling conflicts between Yellowstone and his film projects.

In his own words, Costner shared his thoughts on balancing his commitments: “I wanted to work more than once a year and it was important that I made room for Yellowstone and made room for Horizon, but people ran through deadlines,” he told CBS Mornings. “They were busy; they had a lot to do . . . Yellowstone was my first priority, but at a certain point when you make commitments you just have to live with them.”

However, this doesn’t mean he’s closing the door on returning to his iconic role as John Dutton. “I’ve never missed any obligations in my entire career, so the idea [of returning] is wide open for me,” Costner added. “It just happens to be, can I fall in love with the writing? Can I fall in love with the part to go forward?”

With all these exciting developments, from Matthew Fox’s new role to potential future spinoffs and the continuing evolution of the Yellowstone universe, fans have plenty to look forward to. Whether it’s the stunning Montana landscapes or the rich, emotional storytelling, The Madison is shaping up to be a standout addition to the Yellowstone legacy.
