It looks like the hunt for the next James Bond might be over, and the lucky contender is none other than British actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson. According to sources, he's been offered the iconic role of the suave secret agent, famous for his "shaken, not stirred" martinis.
Reportedly, EON Productions, the company behind the 007 films, is gearing up to start shooting the next installment later this year, with Taylor-Johnson expected to sign on soon.
If he accepts the offer, Taylor-Johnson, known for his roles in "Bullet Train" and "Tenet," will be stepping into the shoes of Daniel Craig, who played Bond in five films over 15 years. Craig, now 56, was in his 30s when he first took on the role in 2006's "Casino Royale."
Taylor-Johnson, 33, recently underwent a screen test for the Bond franchise, and while he's not as widely recognized as some other actors, insiders believe he has the talent and charm to make the role his own. His performance in "Nocturnal Animals" was particularly praised for showing his depth as an actor.
Apart from his potential new role as Bond, Taylor-Johnson has had a successful career, starting with his breakout role in the British comedy "Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging" in 2008. He later starred as a young John Lennon in "Nowhere Boy," where he met his wife, director Sam Taylor-Wood.
His filmography includes notable films like "Kick-Ass," "Anna Karenina," "Godzilla," and "Tenet." He's also set to appear in the upcoming action-comedy "The Fall Guy" alongside Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt.
