But here's the kicker: Elvis's granddaughter, Riley Keough, she wasn't having any of it. She went all in and filed a lawsuit, calling out the whole thing as a scam. She inherited the trust after her mom, Lisa Marie Presley, passed away last year, and she wasn't about to let Graceland slip away.
Keough's lawsuit claimed the folks behind the loan were pulling some shady moves. Like, they supposedly whipped up fake docs about the loan back in 2023. And get this, they're saying Lisa Marie never even borrowed a dime from these guys or handed over Graceland as collateral. Talk about drama, right?
And can you believe it? Elvis snagged Graceland back in '57 for just over a hundred grand. It was a steal back then! Now it's this massive 17,552 square feet estate, sitting on 13 acres of prime Memphis real estate. Plus, it's got history oozing out of every corner, especially since Elvis himself kicked the bucket there in '77.
Anyway, good news is, Graceland isn't going anywhere for now. That's a relief, 'cause over 600,000 folks make the pilgrimage there every year. Can you blame 'em?
