Dean McDermott isn’t letting any social media haters ruin his vibe, especially when it comes to his ex, Tori Spelling.
When McDermott, 57, made things official with his new flame, Lily Calo, on Instagram, and Spelling, 51, gave it a thumbs up by liking the post, some keyboard warriors couldn’t help but stir the pot. One person commented, “The fact that Tori liked this is mind-boggling!”
McDermott, however, didn’t let that slide. He clapped back, defending Spelling like a champ. “It’s because she is a highly evolved and compassionate loving person, which is a lot more than I can say for the trolls commenting on this post,” he fired back. “Tori has a boyfriend. People get divorced and are better apart than they are together. That’s life. I’ll pray for happiness for all the haters.”
And man, did fans rally behind him! “Well said. I wish only the very best for the both of you and whatever directions you go in,” wrote one Instagram user. Another chimed in, “Bravo! Love doesn’t end because of a piece of paper.”
It’s not surprising that McDermott would defend his ex. He and Spelling have had their share of ups and downs since tying the knot in 2006. They’ve been through the wringer, facing split rumors more times than we can count. But hey, that’s life in the spotlight.
Last June, McDermott shocked everyone with a now-deleted post announcing their split. Later, it came out that the date coincided with their separation date, which Spelling had initiated in March, citing irreconcilable differences.
But it seems like they’re finally finding some common ground. Despite their legal tussles, they’re trying to co-parent in a civil manner.
And speaking of new beginnings, McDermott has found solace in Lily, especially in his journey to sobriety. He’s been open about his struggles with alcohol and prescription drugs, admitting that it put a real strain on his marriage.
Meanwhile, Tori’s also moving forward with advertising CEO Ryan Cramer. She’s reportedly smitten, seeing in him a fresh start and maybe a resemblance to her ex, McDermott.
So yeah, things might be changing, but these two are proving that even after the storm, there’s always a rainbow waiting.
