Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor are once again showcasing their incredible support for each other, and their playful banter ahead of the 76th annual Primetime Emmy Awards is making headlines.
In a chat with PEOPLE before the big night, Paulson, 49, couldn’t resist a little humor. She joked about her role for the evening, saying, "This is the nominee, I'm here with the fan." As she held up a portable cooling device, she added, "Just don't ever say that I'm not supportive and ready and willing and able, because it's not about me tonight as you can tell by the fan that I carry." It was a lighthearted way to spotlight her role in the evening, with Taylor, 81, being the one in the spotlight.
Taylor responded in kind, with a playful retort, "You're my fan carrier." Their easygoing interaction highlights the warmth and humor that defines their relationship.
The couple’s love story has always intrigued fans. They first crossed paths at a party back in 2005. However, it wasn’t until a decade later that Taylor, known for her role in Two and a Half Men, hinted at her romance with Paulson during a November 2015 appearance on WNYC's Death, Sex & Money podcast. Taylor revealed she was in her first “deeply committed relationship” with a woman, acknowledging the age difference between them.
By December 2015, the couple made their relationship public, confirming what many had speculated.
Paulson, reflecting on their romance, shared details during a January 2019 appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. She recounted, "It's a long story. We met a very, very long time ago. I was with someone else; she was, too." Their initial meeting was brief, but their connection rekindled later through social media. Paulson explained, "We sort of breezed by one another, and then started following each other on Twitter, and then …"
Billy Eichner, who was also on that episode, couldn't resist teasing, “Holland Taylor slid into your DMs?” To which Paulson playfully responded, “She actually did. Yeah, it’s pretty great.”
This year, Taylor is in the spotlight for her work on The Morning Show, where she’s nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Her performance has earned her praise, and she’s in good company with her costars Nicole Beharie, Greta Lee, and Karen Pittman, all of whom are also nominated for their roles in the hit Apple TV drama.
Taylor spoke highly of her colleagues, telling PEOPLE, "Beharie was a thrilling person to act with. Really worked so beautifully, we did together." She also had glowing words for Billy Crudup, saying, "He is everything."
