Simplifying Life: Shannen Doherty's Journey with Stage 4 Cancer

Written by Published

Shannen Doherty is going through a tough and emotional time, as she revealed on her "Let’s Be Clear" podcast. The "Beverly Hills: 90210" star, who is battling stage 4 cancer, recently opened up about why she's letting go of many of her possessions.

For Doherty, cancer has shifted her focus, and right now, her priority is her mom. She's aware that her passing before her mom would be tough on her, so she wants to make things easier. That's why she's getting rid of a lot of her belongings. She doesn't want her mom to deal with the burden of sorting through tons of furniture in storage units.

She recently went through a difficult moment while packing up items to sell and donate at one of her properties in Tennessee. It felt like she was giving up on her dream of creating a sanctuary for abandoned horses, a project she had planned to do with her mother. She wondered if this meant she was giving up on life or throwing in the towel, but she believes it's the right decision. Simplifying her life will bring peace and calm to those she leaves behind.

Doherty is planning to sell her antiques and other items she's collected over the years to travel with her mom and create new memories. She wants to ensure her loved ones are taken care of if something were to happen to her. This process has made her realize that possessions are just stuff and don't bring her true joy. What does bring her joy is spending time with her mom and creating memories together.

The "Charmed" star has been open about her cancer journey since being diagnosed in 2015, especially since the cancer spread to her brain in June 2023. However, she shared a hopeful update in January, mentioning a new treatment that could be a potential "miracle" for her.

Despite her health challenges, Doherty remains positive and focused on creating meaningful experiences with her loved ones.
