Ronna McDaniel, head honcho at the Republican National Committee (RNC), has been kicking around the idea of stepping down after the South Carolina primary, at least that's the scoop from some insiders. Word on the street is, if she decides to throw in the towel, Donald Trump might throw his weight behind Michael Whatley, who's running the show over at the North Carolina Republican Party.

Now, Ronna's been feeling the heat to step aside for a minute, especially since the RNC's been hitting some rough patches with their fundraising. Trump's been dropping hints left and right, even mentioning in an interview with Newsmax that maybe it's time for Ronna to pass the torch.

But hold up a sec, nothing's set in stone yet. Keith Schipper, the RNC spokesperson, says they'll figure things out after South Carolina. And as for Team Trump, they're keeping quiet on this one.

Back in January, Ronna snagged her fourth term as chair, thanking her lucky stars for the support from RNC members. She made it clear that their main goal is to kick Joe Biden to the curb and get more Republicans in office. During the vote, she scored big with 111 votes, leaving her competitors in the dust with only 51 and 4 votes.

And get this—she had over 100 RNC members backing her up before the vote even went down. So, she's got some serious backup.

So, yeah, things are still up in the air, but we'll have to wait and see how it all shakes out after South Carolina.
