The Cincinnati Bengals are gearing up for a revamped defense in 2024. With DJ Reader out and Sheldon Rankins stepping in, the team is making some big changes.
Steven Radicevic, the Bengals' director of pro scouting, spoke recently about the team's defensive line. He mentioned the dynamic duo of Larry Ogunjobi and B.J. Hill, noting that Rankins brings a different style but will add to the interior rush. The Bengals are hopeful that Rankins and Hill will form a formidable pairing inside, something they haven't had since Ogunjobi and Hill were playing together.
The Bengals' defensive line looks quite different this year, with Reader gone and Rankins known for his pass-rushing abilities. However, the team is addressing last year's major issue of a lack of interior pass rush, which affected the edge rushers as well. The Bengals are confident in their current depth chart and are exploring all possibilities to improve the team.
Reader, reflecting on his departure from the Bengals, has hinted at a potential return of former nose tackle Josh Tupou, who is currently a free agent. The team could also look to address this position in the upcoming draft.
