Daniel Jones Primed for 2024 Comeback with Bolstered Giants Offense

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is pegged as one of the NFL's top 'bounce-back' candidates for the 2024 season, according to Bradley Locker in a recent Pro Football Focus article. Jones, who's been dealing with multiple injuries, had his 2023 season cut short to just six starts. This year, however, he has a prime chance to 'right his wrongs' and shine with Big Blue.

Jones’ 63.0 overall grade last season was the lowest of his NFL career, and his performance was all over the place. He had stellar games against Arizona and Miami but struggled against teams like Las Vegas, Dallas, and Seattle. Despite this, he showed his prowess as a runner, achieving a running grade of 82.2 or better for the second straight year.

The Giants are making moves to protect their quarterback better this season. They’ve brought in two veteran guards, Jon Runyan Jr. and Jermaine Eluemunor, to bolster the offensive line. This is crucial, given that the Giants allowed a staggering 85 sacks in 2023, leading the league and coming close to the all-time record set by the 1986 Philadelphia Eagles.

One exciting element for the Giants' offense is the addition of Malik Nabers, which could help Jones boost his production. Although Jones might not become a superstar overnight, more consistency is expected compared to last year. His 4.1% turnover-worthy play rate is likely to improve, reflecting his performance from 2020-22.

Despite the challenges, Jones is optimistic about the upcoming season. He's currently participating in 7-on-7 drills during the team's OTAs and confidently stated he plans to be the starting quarterback for Week 1 against Minnesota.

Jones may face some hurdles with the potential retirement of tight end Darren Waller and the absence of his favorite receiver, Darius Slayton, who is holding out for a contract extension. But with the young receiving corps that the Giants have been building over the past few seasons, there's hope that Jones can deliver a solid performance in 2024.
