DeeJay Dallas Joins Arizona Cardinals: A Look Back at His Time with the Seattle Seahawks

Former Seattle Seahawks running back DeeJay Dallas is set to join the Arizona Cardinals, staying in the NFC West with a division rival. According to Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report, Dallas intends to sign with Arizona at the opening of the new league year, though the contract details have not been disclosed.

Drafted in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft from Miami, Dallas showcased his versatility during his time with the Seahawks. While primarily serving as a third-down back behind various players, he made the most of his opportunities, including starting two games as a rookie when Chris Carson was injured. Over the past three seasons, Dallas has seen limited action on offense but has been a standout on special teams, particularly as a return specialist.

In four seasons with the Seahawks, Dallas rushed for 468 yards and four touchdowns on 112 carries, while also contributing as a receiver out of the backfield with 61 receptions and a touchdown. His performance as a returner was equally impressive, finishing in the top-10 in kick return yardage and yards per return last season, earning an All-Pro vote for his efforts.

Despite his contributions, Dallas wasn't a top priority for the Seahawks to re-sign, given their depth at the position. With players like Ken Walker III and Zach Charbonnet already under contract and Kenny McIntosh ready for a larger role, Dallas's departure opens up opportunities for others. Living in Arizona during the offseason, Dallas will now have the chance to play closer to home, which adds a personal element to his move.

As the Seahawks continue to navigate free agency, they have yet to sign an outside free agent and have lost five unrestricted free agents, leaving them with several roster gaps to fill. General manager John Schneider will need to address these needs as they look to remain competitive in the NFC West.
