Denver Broncos Boost Offensive Line Depth with Calvin Throckmorton Signing

The Denver Broncos have added some beef to their offensive line, signing Calvin Throckmorton (27) to a one-year deal, the team announced Monday.

Throckmorton, standing tall at 6-5 and weighing in at 311 pounds, kicked off his NFL journey as an undrafted free agent from Oregon, catching the attention of the New Orleans Saints in 2020. Known for his versatility, Throckmorton showcased his skills all over the offensive line during his college days with the Ducks. He then made his mark with the Saints, primarily as a guard.

His rookie season saw him honing his craft on the practice squad, but in 2021, he stepped up, starting in 14 games under the guidance of coach Sean Payton. Throckmorton continued to make strides in 2022, starting six games before parting ways with the Saints after training camp in 2023.

The Carolina Panthers saw potential in Throckmorton, claiming him off waivers last summer. He didn't disappoint, starting in seven games before a mid-season release. However, his journey didn't end there, as the Tennessee Titans swooped in, giving him a shot in six games.

In Denver, Throckmorton faces tough competition, with Quinn Meinerz and Ben Powers holding down the guard spots. Unless the Broncos decide to shift him to center, a position he dabbled in during college, Throckmorton is set to provide crucial backup support.

With Throckmorton on board and the recent signing of offensive tackle Matt Peart to a one-year deal, the Broncos are fortifying their offensive line depth, gearing up for the upcoming draft. Stay tuned to Broncos Wire for all the latest on Denver's free agent moves.
