In the locker room chatter, Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander shared some big praise for the up-and-coming second-year wideout, Jayden Reed. He drew a comparison to a legendary Packers slot receiver, Randall Cobb, who left his mark with over 500 catches and nearly 7,000 yards in his 10-season tenure.
According to Alexander, Reed's got that same spark. He sees him as a hungry player eager to make big plays, just like Cobb was back in the day. And what's exciting is that Alexander believes Reed might even surpass Cobb's achievements.
Reed had quite the rookie season in 2023, leading the Packers in catches, receiving yards, and touchdowns. And much like Cobb, he's versatile, getting involved in various ways, including taking handoffs and making plays on special teams. The guy's got some serious speed and agility, much like Cobb did during his prime.
What's interesting is their physical resemblance too. Cobb was a bit shorter but had a solid build, just like Reed. Both seem to have that knack for making plays happen, whether it's from the slot, on trick plays, or returning kicks.
But the big question is, can Reed become the new best friend for QB Jordan Love, both on and off the field, like Cobb was for Aaron Rodgers? Well, Reed's debut season was promising, and if he keeps it up, he could be on track to match or even surpass Cobb's second-year stats, which were pretty impressive.
So, as the Packers gear up for another season, all eyes will be on Reed to see if he can live up to the hype and become the next big thing in Green Bay.
