Former NBA player Ben McLemore, known for his time with the Sacramento Kings and other NBA teams, recently made headlines for an unfortunate reason. He was arrested in Oregon on charges related to a sexual assault case from 2021 when he was with the Portland Trail Blazers.

McLemore, who has been playing basketball overseas since leaving the NBA in 2022, was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals upon his arrival at Portland Airport. The arrest was based on an outstanding warrant for first-degree rape, first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, and two counts of second-degree sexual abuse, as reported by the Lake Oswego Police Department. He was later transferred to Clackamas County Jail and appeared in court for arraignment, where he was granted release on a $500,000 bail.

According to reports, a Clackamas County grand jury indicted McLemore following testimony from the alleged victim, who accused him of assaulting her on October 3, 2021. The investigation into the incident was reportedly delayed at times due to McLemore's absence from the country, where he was pursuing his basketball career.

McLemore, a standout player at the University of Kansas, was selected as the No. 7 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings. He went on to play eight seasons in the NBA, representing teams like the Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, and Los Angeles Lakers. Currently, he has been playing for Río Breogán in the Spanish ABC league. However, his time in Spain was marred by a drunk driving incident in March, adding to the recent challenges he has faced.
