The New York Giants faced a hefty to-do list after the 2023 season. While the defense held its ground, the departure of Wink Martindale stirred up some drama. But it was the offense that needed serious attention, and the Giants didn't waste any time getting down to business.
They bolstered the offensive line and filled the gap left by Saquon Barkley's exit in free agency. Then, in the 2024 NFL draft, they turned their focus to skill positions like wide receiver and tight end. The big question, though, is whether they've equipped quarterback Daniel Jones with enough firepower to shine.
According to NFL Network analyst Bucky Brooks, the answer is a resounding no. Despite his admiration for Malik Nabers, Brooks believes the Giants haven't surrounded Jones with the weapons he needs to truly excel. While Nabers may be a standout, he can't carry the entire offense on his own.
Adding to the uncertainty is the situation with Darren Waller, who is contemplating retirement. While Theo Johnson has been brought in, it's unclear if he's ready to take on a significant role. Similarly, Devin Singleterry faces the daunting task of filling Saquon Barkley's shoes without knowing if he's up to the challenge.
The true test will come when the Giants hit the field for the start of the season. Only then will we see if they've not only found the right pieces but also managed to fit them together effectively.
