Last season, the Miami Heat had a wild ride in the play-in tournament, blazing through the Eastern Conference to land in the NBA Finals. Their showdown with the Denver Nuggets ended in disappointment, losing the series in five games. Still, their journey was the talk of the postseason. Now, Klay Thompson is fired up, using Miami's inspiring run as fuel for himself and the Golden State Warriors.
After the Warriors took down the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday (April 9), Thompson spoke to the press, pumped about the team's potential to mirror Miami's success. He's all in, saying, “We take a lot of motivation from the Heat last year who had to play two play-in games and made it all the way to the Finals. I think we’re capable of a run like that. We obviously can’t look ahead, but whatever happens, we will be ready. We know that it can be done. There is no task too tall for us.”
Golden State boasts a stacked lineup with four future Hall of Famers. Leading the charge is Stephen Curry, who many consider the greatest shooter ever and a top-five point guard in NBA history. With Curry leading the charge, and Chris Paul, Draymond Green, and Thompson all stepping up big time recently, it's not crazy to think the Warriors could go on a jaw-dropping streak. It won't be a walk in the park, but the Warriors have been showing they're still a force to be reckoned with, especially over their last 15-20 games.
