Greg Biffle, NASCAR Chevy Driver, Boycotts Daytona 500 Over Payment Dispute

NASCAR driver Greg Biffle has announced his decision to boycott the 2024 Daytona 500 due to unresolved payment issues with his team, NY Racing Team. Despite the team's presence at the track with a hauler and race car bearing his name and signature, Biffle stated that he will not be competing. The No. 44 Chevy Camaro ZL1, sponsored for the Daytona 500, remains without a confirmed driver as of now.

Biffle's statement on social media highlighted that he raced for NY Racing Team in five events during the 2022 Cup Series season but has not been compensated for those races. Consequently, he has chosen to refrain from participating in any races until his prior contract obligations are fulfilled. Despite his disappointment at missing the Daytona 500, Biffle wished the team success and expressed hope for future racing opportunities.

Having retired from full-time Cup Series competition in 2016, Biffle returned to the division in 2022 with NY Racing Team. His decision not to race in the 2024 Daytona 500 comes after competing at Daytona, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Richmond, and Talladega, events for which he claims he has not received payment. It remains unclear whether NY Racing Team will field a replacement driver for Biffle or if they will withdraw from the event altogether.
