Herbert's Ankle Woes and the Chargers' Injury Report

Justin Herbert, the Chargers' fearless leader, is nursing a fresh ankle injury. The tough-as-nails quarterback suffered the setback during Sunday's heart-pounding clash against the Chiefs.

Despite the ankle pain, Herbert soldiered on, completing 21 of 30 passes for 213 yards and a touchdown. However, the injury forced him to miss practice on Wednesday, raising concerns about his availability for the upcoming game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"It was definitely tough to play through," Herbert admitted. "We had to limit some of the runs to protect the ankle."

This isn't the first time Herbert has battled injuries this season. He's already overcome a severe high-ankle sprain and a plantar fascia injury. Yet, he remains determined to lead the Chargers to the playoffs.

"I've been through worse," Herbert said. "This is part of the game. It's what makes this team special - everyone is tough."

While Herbert's injury is a major concern, the Chargers have other injury issues to address.

  • Ladd McConkey: The rookie receiver returned to practice after missing Sunday's game due to shoulder and knee injuries. He's a key contributor to the Chargers' offense and his return is a huge boost.
  • Will Dissly: The tight end suffered a shoulder injury and missed practice on Wednesday. His status for the Buccaneers game is uncertain.
  • Jalen Reagor: The wide receiver injured his finger and could be sidelined for an extended period.
  • Defensive Line: Joey Bosa (hip) and Khalil Mack (rest) were absent from practice.
  • Secondary: Safety Tony Jefferson (hamstring) was limited.

The Chargers are facing a tough stretch, but with Herbert's determination and the team's resilient spirit, they'll fight tooth and nail to secure a playoff spot. Stay tuned for updates on Herbert's injury and the Chargers' injury report.
