Inter Miami had a tough outing against the New York Red Bulls, missing their star player Lionel Messi due to a hamstring injury. The match, played in wet and chilly conditions at Red Bull Arena, saw Lewis Morgan steal the show with a fantastic performance, scoring a hat trick and providing an assist.

Morgan, a former Inter Miami player, netted goals in the third minute, 51st minute, and 70th minute, completing his hat trick. He also set up Wikelman Carmona's goal in the 66th minute, adding to Inter Miami's misery. Despite an effort that saw Noah Allen's goal disallowed by VAR in the 77th minute, Inter Miami couldn't find a breakthrough.

The absence of Messi, along with other key players like Drake Callender, Diego Gómez, and Federico Redondo, who were away on international duty, left Inter Miami struggling. The team's high goal differential took a hit, dropping from plus-8 to plus-4.

The defeat, Inter Miami's second of the 2024 MLS season without Messi, came at a crucial time as they were tied for the Eastern Conference lead with Columbus Crew. However, with other teams playing on the same matchday, Inter Miami's position could be affected.

On the other hand, the New York Red Bulls showcased their depth and resilience, missing several key players due to international commitments. Despite the absence of Carlos Coronel, Cory Burke, and others, the Red Bulls put on a dominant display, highlighting their strength as a team.
