Trey Hendrickson, the Cincinnati Bengals' defensive end, recently opened up about the backing he received from quarterback Joe Burrow, and he had some interesting insights to share.
Hendrickson had already broken his silence regarding the strategically-timed trade request he made due to dissatisfaction with his pay and the length of his current contract. However, his latest comments focused more on Burrow's very public show of support.
"Well, it means a lot whenever somebody that talented has your back," Hendrickson said, according to WLWT's Fletcher Keel. "Obviously, he's at the top of his game, and I strive to be at the top of mine year in and year out. Very similar - like-minded, hardworking players - and my wife and I keep to ourselves."
Hendrickson's presence at voluntary workouts, despite the apparent contract drama, suggests that the situation might not be as dire as the trade request made during the chaos of the NFL draft implied.
Either way, Burrow’s unwavering support for his teammates, including Hendrickson, clearly makes a big impact. It’s a testament to the strong camaraderie within the team, and it’s exciting to see how this dynamic will play out in the upcoming season.
