Man, Sunday's game had all the makings of a historic showdown! Kyle Bradish was on fire, just six outs away from potentially throwing his first career no-hitter against the Chicago White Sox. But hey, sometimes things don't go as planned, and a high pitch count messed up his shot. Still, the Baltimore Orioles clinched a 4-1 win, sweeping the White Sox in a four-game series that was nothing short of intense.
Now, Bradish, he's been through the wringer this season, only his fifth start after dealing with an elbow injury. Dude was tossing strikes left and right, racking up 11 strikeouts and walking four on a whopping 103 pitches! That's some serious hustle. But even with his stellar performance, Danny Coulombe, our setup man, slipped up in the eighth, giving up a leadoff homer and ending the combined no-hit bid. Tough break, but it happens.
The game was a nail-biter from the get-go, delayed over 90 minutes due to rain. Garrett Crochet from the White Sox was holding his own with a no-hit bid until the fourth inning. But our boys weren't backing down. Adley Rutschman smashed a two-run homer in the sixth, followed by Colton Cowser's solo shot in the eighth. And let's not forget James McCann's clutch sacrifice fly in the ninth, sealing the deal with some insurance runs.
As the Orioles locked in their fourth series sweep of the year, they're sitting pretty at 15 games over .500. And after a solid 4-3 road trip, they're heading back to Baltimore for a six-game homestand, kicking off against the Boston Red Sox. It's gonna be a showdown, with Cole Irvin taking the mound for us on Monday. Can't wait to see the hometown crowd rallying behind our boys!
And shoutout to Craig Kimbrel, locking in his third consecutive save and tying with Kenley Jansen for the fifth most saves in MLB history. Now, that's what I call legendary.
