Rolesville Rams: The High-Flying Offense
The Rolesville Rams, the fifth seed in the NCHSAA 4A East bracket, absolutely crushed the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers 49-6. It was another dominant performance for the Rams, who have been on a tear in the playoffs, scoring at least 40 points in each of their last four games.
A Quarterback's Dream Quarterback Braden Atkinson was on fire, throwing four touchdown passes, three of which went to the talented wide receiver Anthony Roberts. Kicker Riley Daniels also had a great game, contributing 11 points with two field goals and five extra points.
Early Dominance The Rams started strong, with Atkinson connecting with Jaedon Alford for a 35-yard touchdown on their first drive. A successful two-point conversion gave them an early 8-0 lead. The Rams continued to pile on the points, with Amir Brown scoring a touchdown after a defensive interception and Daniels adding a 33-yard field goal.
Air Raid Attack Atkinson and Roberts were in sync all night, connecting on two long touchdown passes to put the game out of reach. The Rams' high-powered offense was simply too much for the Cavaliers to handle.
Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders: The Defensive Wall
The Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders, who suffered their only loss of the season to Rolesville, bounced back with a convincing 38-0 victory over Hoggard. The Crusaders, the second seed in the bracket, will now host their rivals, the Rolesville Rams, in a highly anticipated rematch.
Ground and Pound The Crusaders' offense relied heavily on their running game, with quarterback Gannon Jones leading the way with two rushing touchdowns. Aaron Anderson, Kendall Scotton, and Noah Terry also found the end zone, and kicker Evan Windley added a long field goal.
A Fortress on Defense The Crusaders' defense has been a force to be reckoned with all season. They have allowed an average of only 10 points per game in the playoffs, and they will need to be at their best to slow down the high-powered Rams offense.
