Robbie Avila, the standout player from Indiana State, has made a big move! He's joining coach Josh Schertz at Saint Louis University after a stellar performance in the 2023-24 season. Avila, a 6-foot-10 center from Oak Forest, Illinois, became a fan favorite at Indiana State, earning nicknames like "Cream Abdul-Jabbar" and "Larry Blurred" thanks to his unique skill set and signature goggles.

In his previous season, Avila was a force to be reckoned with, averaging 17.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game while shooting an impressive 39.4% from beyond the arc. He played a key role in Indiana State's 32-win season, leading them to the NIT championship game.

Avila expressed his excitement about joining Saint Louis on "The Field of 68" podcast, saying, "I trusted his path for me the last two years and trust what he has planned for me these next few years. I'm excited to get over there and do the same thing we did at Indiana State, win some games."

After Schertz accepted the head coaching position at Saint Louis, Avila, along with four other starters, entered the transfer portal. While Avila chose Saint Louis, his teammates Ryan Conwell, Julian Larry, and Jayson Kent decided to pursue opportunities elsewhere.

Avila's decision to join Saint Louis adds a new dimension to their lineup, and fans are eager to see him continue his success under Schertz's guidance.
