A routine shopping trip turned into a life-changing moment for David W. of Merritt, British Columbia, after he discovered he had won $1 million in the July 1, 2026, Lotto 6/49 draw.
David stopped by a Walmart on Crawford Avenue in Merritt to scan his lottery tickets. At first, he thought his biggest prize was a couple of free plays.
“I noticed all the zeroes, but the two free plays caught my attention first,” David said. “Then it hit me—I had won $1 million!”
What David Plans to Do With His Prize
Instead of throwing a huge celebration, David has a more practical goal in mind. After losing his wife last year, he says his outlook on life has changed, and he now wants to focus on completing long-awaited renovations to his home.
His first phone call was to his son, whose reaction was unforgettable.
