A Cary resident just hit a massive win that made lottery history. Montfort Faulkner scored a $1,578,846 Fast Play jackpot, the biggest Fast Play prize ever recorded in the North Carolina Education Lottery.

He bought his lucky $20 “Jackpot 777” ticket on February 3 at the Publix on Kildaire Farm Road in Cary. At that moment, the Fast Play jackpot had climbed to $1,378,846—but his ticket pushed things even higher.

  • Faulkner’s $20 ticket qualified him for 100% of the jackpot
  • He also received an extra $200,000 bonus cash
  • Total prize: $1,578,846

After federal and state taxes were taken out, his final take-home amount came to $1,136,933.

Faulkner later visited lottery headquarters on Friday to officially claim his prize.
