Fortnite Endures Extended Outage: Server Woes and Player Frustrations

Written by Published

Fortnite users recently encountered a significant outage lasting over 12 hours, confirmed by the game's officials. The server issues were acknowledged, with efforts made to address them. Despite ongoing problems, there was some relief as certain players regained the ability to matchmake and make purchases, though queue times remained unstable.

Earlier, officials announced the resolution of an issue causing some islands to update with default descriptions. However, challenges persisted with errors related to player purchases and item redemption, with no specific timeline for resolution provided.

The outage was officially acknowledged before 6:15 a.m. PT, with Fortnite extending downtime by at least eight additional hours. Android players were cautioned about a "device not supported" message, which was slated for resolution with the next game version.

Downdetector, a website tracking user-reported outages, received nearly 2,500 reports of issues playing Fortnite. Despite updates from the Fortnite maintenance social media page, no estimated timeline for server restoration was provided during the 1 p.m. update.
