LA 2028 Olympics: Affordable Tickets, Inclusive Games & Historic Fan Experience

Los Angeles, California – Excitement is building for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics as officials promise an experience that’s affordable, inclusive, and truly for everyone. On Tuesday, LA28 leaders opened registration for a ticket lottery that could let fans be part of history.

Starting Wednesday at 7:00 AM local time, fans worldwide can register for the chance to purchase tickets beginning in April. LA28 chair Casey Wasserman highlighted that one million tickets will cost just $28, and about a third of the roughly 14 million tickets will be priced at $100 or less.

"From the very beginning, we’ve said it clearly: these Games belong to everyone," Wasserman said, speaking in the shadow of the iconic Los Angeles Coliseum. "They have to be affordable and inclusive."

The event included a ceremonial lighting of the Olympic cauldron, attended by around 300 past Olympians and Paralympians—a symbolic first step toward bringing fans together for what organizers are calling the greatest Games the world will ever see.

Why these Games are different:

  • Ticket prices start at just $28 for one million seats.

  • Roughly 33% of all tickets cost $100 or less.

  • Over 150,000 people have already signed up to volunteer, showing massive community support.

LA28 CEO Reynold Hoover emphasized accessibility: "Our tickets are going to be affordable, our games will be accessible, and they’re right here in our backyard." The foundation of these Games, he added, is all about fans—the people who bring the energy, enthusiasm, and noise.

The announcement also comes amid comparisons with FIFA, which faced backlash over the high cost of tickets for this year’s World Cup in the US, Canada, and Mexico. FIFA had to introduce a limited number of $60 tickets after critics slammed prices as “extortionate and astronomical.”

US swimming legend Janet Evans, a four-time Olympic gold medalist and LA28’s chief athlete officer, reflected on her own experience attending the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics as a fan: "The Olympics and Paralympics bring the world together, but they inspire people," she said.

Fans, volunteers, and Olympians alike are gearing up for what promises to be a historic moment for Los Angeles and the world. The countdown to LA 2028 is officially on.
