Los Angeles Socialite Found Guilty in Fatal Accident: Rebecca Grossman Convicted of Murder and Manslaughter

Rebecca Grossman, a well-known figure in Los Angeles, was found guilty of two felony counts and gross vehicular manslaughter for hitting Mark and Jacob Iskander. This tragic incident occurred when Grossman, allegedly impaired and speeding in her Mercedes, struck the young brothers at over 70mph. The prosecution argued that Grossman's actions were deliberate, while her defense maintained it was an accident, suggesting the boys were first hit by another car.

The verdict, reached after a lengthy legal process, includes two counts each of second-degree murder and gross vehicular manslaughter, along with one count of hit-and-run driving resulting in death. Despite her blood alcohol levels not exceeding the legal limit, prosecutors claimed she was impaired with alcohol and Valium at the time of the incident. Grossman now faces the possibility of 34 years to life in prison.

During the trial, the prosecution presented evidence of Grossman's history of speeding, including text messages discussing the issue. Witnesses also described her behavior leading up to the accident, with one stating that Grossman braked briefly but failed to avoid hitting the family. Despite arguments that Grossman was distracted by a woman in roller skates, the mother of the Iskander boys, the jury found her guilty of causing their deaths.

Grossman, known for her work with the Grossman Burn Foundation alongside her husband Dr. Peter Grossman, had pleaded not guilty to the charges. Her attorney argued that she was not impaired, speeding, or attempting to flee the scene. However, the prosecution maintained that she acted with disregard for human life, leading to the tragic outcome.
