After 31 years of marriage, Cheryl Bach and her husband had never taken a honeymoon—but a lucky scratch-off changed all that. Bach won $1 million playing the $10 Million Spectacular game after buying a ticket at Harris Teeter on Village Walk Drive in Holly Springs.

“I had to put my glasses on to make sure I was seeing it right,” she recalled. “I was shaking for the rest of the day.” Once she calmed down, she ran straight to tell her husband.

“He didn’t believe me at first,” Bach said with a laugh. “I had to take a picture and show him.”

Bach claimed her prize at lottery headquarters on Friday, opting for the $600,000 lump sum. After state and federal taxes, she walked away with $430,514. While a honeymoon tops the list, she also plans to use the winnings to pay off some bills.

The $10 Million Spectacular game, which debuted in December 2023, offered five $10 million prizes, 20 prizes of $1 million, and 20 prizes of $100,000. With the last $10 million prize already claimed, the lottery has started winding down the game.

For Bach, what started as a routine lottery trip turned into a life-changing moment—and finally, a chance to celebrate love and adventure that had waited more than three decades.
