Make or Break: Treylon Burks' Crucial 2024 Season with the Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans have a big question mark looming over their wide receiver lineup, and all eyes are on 2022 first-round pick Treylon Burks as he heads into a critical 2024 season.

Burks hasn't quite lived up to expectations in his first two NFL seasons. Injuries and a lack of on-field impact have plagued the Arkansas standout, leaving the Titans in a tough spot at the receiver position. That's why there's still talk of using an early-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft to shore up the unit.

During a recent press conference, offensive coordinator Nick Holz praised Burks' potential but made it clear that opportunities won't be handed to him. Holz emphasized that Burks will have to earn his playing time, despite his first-round pedigree.

"Treylon’s potential is very high. First-round pick, we see all the talent. But he’s going to get what he earns," Holz said. "My two days with him, he's been a great guy. He seems like he's learning a lot, he's really taking and processing all the information and then when he gets on the field, it's what he can translate. He’s got a skill set that he’s a big guy who can run and he can make contested catches. If he can find a way to do that for us, that’d be a pretty big addition."

There was some talk that Burks could be used as a big slot receiver in head coach Brian Callahan's offense, but Callahan didn't mention Burks when discussing potential options for that role.

If Burks can stay healthy and deliver more on-field impact in 2024, it would be a pleasant surprise for the Titans. However, if he continues to struggle, it won't come as a shock to anyone.
