A $5 bet turned into a life-changing $512,743 payday for a Douglas resident who tried one of the new games on the Mass Lottery’s online platform.
Richard Finnegan scored the huge prize by playing “Big Crush Multiplier,” an eInstant game available exclusively online. According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Finnegan collected his six-figure prize before taxes on Wednesday, August 26, at the Mass Lottery headquarters in Dorchester.
The win is especially notable because it is the largest online prize awarded since the digital lottery platform launched on July 27.
Finnegan said he had used the Mass Lottery app for years but only recently discovered the new online games.
“I’ve never won anything like this. It was totally unbelievable.”
