Massachusetts Megabucks Jackpot Soars to a Record $25.35 Million Ahead of Saturday Drawing

Massachusetts lottery players have a chance to chase history this weekend as the Megabucks jackpot has climbed to a record-breaking $25.35 million before Saturday night's drawing.

The massive prize reached its new high after no ticket matched all the winning numbers in the Wednesday drawing. Players can also choose the estimated cash option of $16.77 million if they hit the jackpot.

Here's what you need to know:

  • Jackpot: $25.35 million
  • Estimated cash value: $16.77 million
  • Drawing time: 9:00 p.m. on Saturday
  • Ticket price: $2 each
  • Ticket sales end: 9:00 p.m. on Saturday

The current jackpot has officially become the largest in Megabucks history, beating the previous record of $21.7 million, which was won on October 16, 1985 and shared by eight winning tickets.

The jackpot has continued to grow since it was last won on April 21, 2025, when a lucky ticket sold in Boston's Hyde Park neighborhood claimed a $1.97 million prize.

Megabucks drawings take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 9:00 p.m., giving players three chances each week to win.

While the overall jackpot has now reached a historic level, the largest prize ever claimed by a single winning ticket remains $16.35 million, awarded on September 10, 2022, to a ticket sold in Ware. At that time, the game was known as Megabucks Doubler.

The lottery refreshed the game in 2023, introducing the new Megabucks format along with a third weekly drawing. The changes were designed to give players better odds, larger average jackpots, and increased payouts on non-jackpot prizes, making the game even more exciting for regular players.
