Massachusetts Player Scores First $1M Winter Scratch-Off Prize

Written by Published

Massachusetts just kicked off the winter season with a major win — a lucky player grabbed the first $1 million prize from the $1,000,000 Winter Winnings scratch-off. The ticket only costs $5, and the winning one was sold at Colonial Liquors in Woburn.

This winter-themed game, which debuted on October 14, is all dressed up with snowflakes, gift boxes, and a cheerful snowman in red, blue, and silver. And here’s the exciting part: two more $1 million prizes are still out there as of December 12.

But that wasn’t the only big moment of the day. Another player scored $250,000 from the $250,000 Winter Winnings scratch-off. That winning ticket came from a Shell station in Auburn.

A few quick highlights:

  • 11 top prizes from this $20 game have already been claimed since its October release

  • 28 top prizes are still waiting to be won

  • On Thursday alone, at least 464 prizes worth $600 or more were claimed statewide

    • 35 in Boston

    • 22 in Worcester

    • 13 in Springfield

The Massachusetts State Lottery keeps a daily list of all winning tickets over $600, so players can track the action.

The biggest prize of the year so far? A “Lifetime Millions” scratch ticket sold in Springfield and claimed in July, paying out $1 million a year for life. Now that’s a life-changer.
