Mega Millions Jackpot Nears $1 Billion for Friday, November 14, 2025
The Mega Millions jackpot is heating up just in time for the holiday season! As of Friday, November 14, the jackpot has soared to $980 million, making it one of the biggest prize pools in history.
After no one hit all five numbers plus the Mega Ball in the Tuesday, November 11 Veterans Day drawing, the jackpot jumped from $900 million to $965 million overnight, eventually reaching today’s massive $980 million. If it rolls over again, we could be looking at another billion-dollar jackpot.
How the Jackpot Grew
The Mega Millions prize has been steadily climbing since Friday, July 1, when it was just $50 million. Over the summer and fall, it skyrocketed:
-
October 31 (Halloween): $754 million
-
November 4: $800 million
-
November 7: $843 million
-
November 11: $900 million
-
November 14: $980 million
The last time someone won a Mega Millions jackpot in Florida was August 8, 2023, when a lucky ticket-holder from Neptune Beach claimed $1.58 billion—taking home $794.2 million after taxes.
Holiday Luck and Giving Back
Florida Lottery Secretary John Davis noted, “The holidays are the perfect time to give back. Each Mega Millions ticket bought in Florida helps fund education through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. That’s a gift that truly keeps on giving.”
This year’s jackpot is already surpassing last year’s holiday draw:
-
December 20, 2024: $862 million Mega Millions jackpot
-
Powerball (Christmas/Hanukkah 2024): $1 billion, eventually won by Rosemary Casarotti of California
Second-Tier Prizes Can Still Win Big
Even if no one hits the jackpot, smaller prizes are nothing to sneeze at. According to the California Lottery, matching five numbers but missing the Mega Ball could win you over $4 million.
Looking Back: History in the Making
If the Mega Millions rolls over and hits $1 billion, it would mark the 14th time in history a Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot has reached or surpassed $1 billion. Only once has a lottery prize topped $2 billion.
Meanwhile, the Powerball jackpot sits at $546 million for Saturday, November 15, giving players multiple chances to dream big.
