Michigan Woman Wins $100K After Letting ChatGPT Pick Her Lottery Numbers

A Michigan woman just hit the lottery jackpot—well, sort of—thanks to some help from artificial intelligence. Tammy Carvey, 45, from Wyandotte, turned to ChatGPT to pick her Powerball numbers and ended up winning a cool $100,000.

“I only play Powerball when the jackpot gets really high,” Tammy told UPI. “The jackpot was over $1 billion, so I bought a ticket. I had no idea which numbers to choose, so I asked ChatGPT for a set—and those are the numbers I played.”

Her ticket didn’t snag the billion-dollar jackpot, but it wasn’t a complete miss. Tammy matched four white balls plus the Powerball in the September 6 draw, which originally netted her $50,000. Thanks to her choice to play the Power Play option, her prize doubled to $100,000—leaving her and her husband in total disbelief.

“At first, I was confused,” she recalled. “Google said I won $50,000, but when I logged into my Michigan Lottery account, I realized the Power Play doubled my winnings. We couldn’t believe it!”

Tammy already has plans for her newfound cash. She hopes to pay off part of her home and give her savings a boost.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time someone’s won big under quirky circumstances. Back in July, a woman from Maryland accidentally bought an extra lottery ticket for a high-value draw, turning what should have been a $50,000 win into a $100,000 jackpot. That woman had previously won $100,000 in 2021 on a bingo-themed scratch card, making her run of luck truly mind-boggling.

Whether it’s AI-picked numbers or accidental extra tickets, these stories prove one thing: sometimes luck has a very creative way of showing up.
