A lucky Powerball player in Jackson, Mississippi, is celebrating a $50,000 win after Wednesday night’s drawing. The winning ticket was purchased with the $1 Double Play option, giving the player an extra shot at a big prize.
The ticket, sold at Fast Lane State Street, matched four white balls plus the Powerball in the Double Play drawing. The add-on costs just $1 per play and uses the same numbers from the original Powerball ticket in a separate drawing held right after the regular drawing.
Mississippi Players Keep Winning
This latest Jackson prize adds to a strong summer for Mississippi Lottery players. Since July 1, winners across the state have claimed:
- $50,000 in McComb
- $50,000 in Gulfport
- $50,000 in Flowood
- $50,000 in Jackson
- $100,000 in Purvis
- $1 million in Tupelo
Two of the $50,000 prizes — the ones sold in Gulfport and Jackson — are still unclaimed. That means two winning tickets could still be sitting somewhere waiting to be discovered.
With no jackpot winner in Wednesday’s Powerball drawing, the jackpot is now estimated at $119 million for Saturday, August 29. The estimated cash option is $51.1 million.
Powerball tickets cost $2 per play, while players can add Double Play or Power Play for another $1 each.
