A Missouri Lottery player is celebrating a $150,000 Powerball win after purchasing a lucky ticket at a liquor store in Hazelwood, north St. Louis County.
The winning ticket was sold at Hazelwood Discount Liquor, located at 406 Elmgrove Avenue. The player matched five numbers in the September 28 drawing: 17, 21, 29, 42, and 49, along with Powerball number 7.
The winner initially earned a $50,000 prize but boosted the payout by choosing the Power Play option. The drawing featured a 3X multiplier, tripling the prize to $150,000.
How the Winner Turned $50,000 Into $150,000
The Power Play feature increases eligible non-jackpot prizes by applying a multiplier drawn during the game. In this case, the 3X multiplier turned the player's original $50,000 prize into a much bigger payday.
Missouri Lottery Benefits St. Louis County
The Missouri Lottery has also contributed significantly to the local community. Officials report that St. Louis County players have won more than $1.1 billion in lottery prizes.
Additional benefits include:
- More than $19.9 million in retailer commissions and bonuses.
- Over $33.9 million in lottery proceeds supporting educational programs.
This Hazelwood winner is the latest player to take home a significant Powerball prize in Missouri.
