After being stuck at home sick for a week, a Missouri Lottery player finally decided she needed a change of scenery—and it paid off big time.
The Cooper County woman told officials she felt the urge to get out, saying, "I was just like, 'I don't know what I'm going to do, but I need to get out of the house.'" Her brief outing included a stop at Murphy Oil on Main Street in Boonville, where she grabbed a soda—and a Triple Cash Crossword scratch-off ticket on a whim.
What happened next was pure disbelief. The ticket revealed a $100,000 top prize. "I didn't believe it, not at all," she admitted. Unsure if her eyes were playing tricks on her, she drove to another store to have the ticket double-checked.
Even the clerk who scanned the ticket was caught off guard. "I think she about fell down," the winner recalled.
