The winning ticket was sold in Quincy, Illinois, during the Wednesday, August 12, 2026, drawing. But as of Wednesday, August 19, the winner had still not claimed the billion-dollar prize, keeping plenty of attention on the historic win.
Powerball jackpot climbs again
After the billion-dollar jackpot was won, Powerball reset to $20 million for the Saturday, August 15, drawing. With two consecutive rollovers, the prize grew to $48 million for Wednesday, August 19.
The estimated cash option for that jackpot was $20.8 million.
The winning numbers for Wednesday, August 19, were:
- White balls: 10, 21, 58, 61, 64
- Powerball: 17
- Power Play: 2x
Those numbers did not produce another jackpot winner, meaning the prize continued to roll over.
For comparison, the previous drawings were:
- Monday, August 17: $35 million
- Saturday, August 15: $20 million
- Wednesday, August 19: $48 million
Who won the $1.04 billion Powerball jackpot?
Shortly after the 11 p.m. ET drawing on August 12, lottery officials announced that a ticket sold in Illinois had matched all the winning numbers.
The Illinois Lottery later confirmed that the ticket was purchased in Quincy, Illinois, and final ticket sales pushed the jackpot to an incredible $1.04 billion.
The winning numbers were 4, 26, 66, 67, 69, with 9 as the Powerball and a 2x Power Play.
The estimated cash option was $450.5 million.
The big catch? The jackpot winner had not yet come forward as of August 19.
Florida is having its own Powerball streak
Florida also had plenty to celebrate from the billion-dollar drawing. One Florida ticket was among four tickets nationwide that matched all five white balls for a $1 million prize. The other winning tickets were sold in Arizona, California and North Carolina.
A Massachusetts ticket scored an even bigger second-tier prize, matching five numbers and using the Power Play for $2 million.
The $1 million Florida ticket was purchased at RaceTrac, 2335 Cleveland Avenue in Fort Myers. Florida Lottery records show the winner lived in Cape Coral and claimed the prize as a one-time cash payment.
Another Florida winner scored $1 million
Florida had another big Powerball winner just days earlier.
In the Saturday, August 8, drawing, a ticket sold in Florida matched five white balls to win $1 million. Tickets in Arizona, Michigan and New York also won $1 million prizes, while a Texas ticket matched five numbers plus the Power Play for $2 million.
The Florida ticket was sold at Circle K, 1026 Walt Williams Road in Lakeland. The winner claimed the lump-sum cash prize by August 12.
Where is Quincy, Illinois?
Quincy is located in western Illinois, along the Mississippi River. The city is roughly 135 miles north of St. Louis, Missouri, and about 300 miles southwest of Chicago.
That small Illinois city is now in the spotlight after producing the ticket worth more than $1 billion.
When is the next Powerball drawing?
