Powerball Jackpot Soars to $1.7 Billion as Florida Tickets Score Big

Written by Published

The Powerball jackpot just keeps getting bigger. After yet another drawing with no grand prize winner, the jackpot has jumped to an eye-popping $1.7 billion, putting it among the biggest lottery prizes ever.

Monday night’s winning numbers were 3, 18, 36, 41, 54, with a Powerball of 7, but no ticket matched all six numbers. Because of that, the massive prize rolls on.

💰 Cash option alert

If a winner takes the lump sum instead of yearly payments, the estimated cash value comes in at $781.3 million.

Florida sees big wins

Even though no one hit the jackpot, Florida still had reason to celebrate:

  • 🎉 One $1 million ticket was sold at Key Food on Sunset Strip in Sunrise, Florida, matching five numbers

  • 💵 Two more tickets in the state won $500,000 each during the Double Play drawing by matching all five white balls

When’s the next drawing?

Powerball drawings happen every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.

🗓️ The next drawing is set for December 24 at 10:59 p.m., just in time for a holiday surprise.

Why the jackpot keeps climbing

This jackpot has been rolling since September, when the last big win happened on September 6. That drawing produced a $1.787 billion prize, split between tickets sold in Texas and Missouri.

Because no one has won since then, the current jackpot now ranks as the fourth-largest in Powerball history.

Powerball officials say the game is about more than money. As Matt Strawn, Powerball Product Group Chair and Iowa Lottery CEO, explained, it’s a chance for people to dream big, especially during the holidays.
