Powerball jackpot reaches $1 billion

The estimated jackpot for Wednesday, August 12, climbed to $1 billion, with a cash option of approximately $433.1 million.

You don't have to match every number to win a Powerball prize.

• Matching the Powerball alone wins $4.
• Matching one white ball plus the Powerball also pays $4.
• Matching two white balls without the Powerball does not win a prize.

A standard Powerball ticket costs $2. Players can add Power Play for another $1, which can multiply most non-jackpot prizes. Double Play is also available for an additional $1 and gives players another chance to win up to $10 million.
