A Rutland resident is celebrating a $50,000 lottery win after turning a $10 ticket purchase into a major payday, according to the Massachusetts Lottery.
Edward Brackett played the online e-instant game “The Lamp” and hit the $50,000 prize. He later made a quick trip to Massachusetts Lottery headquarters to collect his winnings.
Under Massachusetts rules, lottery prizes of $50,000 or more must be claimed in person at the lottery’s headquarters, regardless of whether the ticket was purchased online or in a store.
Brackett’s win is impressive, but it’s far from the biggest recent Massachusetts Lottery prize.
- Brackett’s ticket: $10 → $50,000
- Recent MEGA MONEY jackpot: $25 million
- One $25 million grand prize remains in that game.
The recent $25 million instant-game win was one of the largest prizes awarded by the Massachusetts Lottery. With another top prize still available, players still have a shot at another huge payout.
