Severe Weather Alert: Tornadoes and Storms Threaten Midwest and Great Lakes Regions

Meteorologists are warning residents in Detroit, Chicago, and Indianapolis to prepare for powerful storms, including tornadoes, on Tuesday. Over 54 million individuals were under severe weather watch, with potential tornadoes, large hail, and destructive wind gusts expected from eastern Missouri to Ohio and southern Michigan.

Approximately 55 million individuals in northeastern Arkansas to the Ohio Valley and southern Great Lakes region face the threat of severe thunderstorms starting late Tuesday afternoon. The NOAA's Storm Prediction Center has placed over 38 million people at a Level 2 out of 5 on its scale measuring the risk of severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, millions of Americans across the US Midwest, East Coast, and South will enjoy a second day of unseasonably warm weather before a powerful cold front brings back winter temperatures. Summer-like temperatures, up to 40 degrees Fahrenheit above normal, were forecast, setting the stage for a second record-breaking day in a row in some spots.
