Texas Lottery Jackpot Hits $410M: Anonymous Winner Claims Record-Breaking Prize

A lottery trust in Fredericksburg has claimed a winning ticket worth half of the $1.8 billion jackpot, making headlines across Texas. Lottery trusts are a popular way for winners of $1 million or more to remain anonymous while collecting their prize.

Interestingly, the lucky winner didn’t go with random numbers this time—they picked numbers meaningful to them. But, in a twist of fate, one of the numbers on the ticket ended up different from what they had intended, according to the Texas Lottery.

“This is a moment of gratitude for us, a blessing we plan to enjoy and share with those who are special to us and who serve our community,” the anonymous winner said through their legal team. “We ask for privacy as we look forward to enjoying our lives together as a family. God bless Texas.”

The $410 million payout now holds the title of the largest lottery prize ever awarded in Texas—about $1 million more than the previous record set in Sugar Land in October 2024. And it wasn’t just the winner who got lucky: Big’s 103, the store on U.S. Highway 290 east of Fredericksburg that sold the ticket, received a $250,000 bonus. The Texas Department of Licensing Regulation recently presented the store with a check.

This win is another reminder of the life-changing moments the Texas Lottery creates and how sometimes, a simple trip to the store can turn into history.
