Two North Carolina players just scored a life-changing surprise — each walking away with roughly $250,000 after hitting the Cash 5 jackpot.
What makes it even more exciting?
-
They both played the $1 Cash 5 game
-
They both matched all five numbers
-
And they each claimed one-third of a $1,041,753 jackpot
The winning streak started in Raleigh, where Wardell Void bought his lucky ticket at Best Buy Grocery on Old Stage Road. Over in Selma, Priscilla Allen grabbed a Quick Pick from the 365 Stores on East Anderson Street — and that ticket turned out to be just as lucky.
After taxes, Void collected $249,149, and Allen took home $249,153. Allen already knows what she’s doing with her win: paying off her mortgage.
A third winning ticket also popped up at a Sheetz in Greenville, rounding out the trio of lucky players. With odds of 1 in 962,598, matching all five numbers is no small feat.
Cash 5 is one of the six lottery games in North Carolina, and players can join in either at retail stores or through Online Play using the NC Lottery website or official mobile app. As of Monday, the next Cash 5 jackpot sits at $130,000.
